You sigh as another day ends.  “When will my methodical life end?” You groaned, complaining about how boring your life was.  Everything was the same thing.  You got up to go to college, did your classwork then homework, then walked home.  Alone.  No one to talk with you.

Another sigh.  “I wish my life could change.  It'd be awesome if I just met someone new that will change my recurring, boring life.”

As you walked on, a man hurriedly passed you, accidentally bumping into your shoulder.  He turned to you, flustered at what he did, bowing as he apologized.  “Sumimasen.” You blinked at the foreign language.  He bowed again before he left for someplace unknown to you.

“Japanese?” You stood in your spot, staring at the man as he turned a corner.  Curiosity building up, you followed him.

As you trailed after him, you realized that he was heading to a dojo.  You've seen it many times as you walked home, but never really paid attention to it.  You lean at the gates, watching the man disappear into the building.  You smiled a bit.  I asked for a change, didn't I?  I wonder how my life could change.

Walking slowly up to the dojo, you slid the door open, noticing the stack of shoes in front of a wooden step up.  You stared, unsure what that was about, but remembered some things about the Japanese.  You took your shoes off, putting on some slippers that were near you, and placed them somewhere where you'd remember them.

Looking around, you heard grunts from a certain room.  Slowly passing by, you see a class fighting.  Martial art training?  You were interested instantly, but what caught your attention was the teacher.

He was showing some moves to the class as the replicated his moves.  It wasn't the same man you saw before, but you had a feeling they were connected.  “Family ties?” You mumbled to yourself.

Standing there, watching the class go on, you didn't notice the Japanese man approaching you.  He stood next to you, fidgeting as he waited for you to notice him.  When you didn't, he sighed.  “E-eto...” you're ear twitched.  You looked to your right, seeing the man from earlier.  “May I help you with something?”

You stared at him as he stood before you.  He's so... cute!  In a handsome way of course.  You smiled at him, causing him to blush.  “I was just walking around and saw this dojo.  It peeked my interest, and I wanted to see what it was like.”  He nodded, understanding what you meant since that happens a lot.  Really, you couldn't just tell him that you followed him here because he got the best of your curiosity.  “What classes are in this dojo?”

He looked into the room where his brother was teaching Martial Arts to the others; kids, adults, no girls.  He quickly glance back at you.  “Th-there's martial arts which my brother teaches.”  You nod, checking off the mental question you had about the other man being related.  “Then there's kendo...”

“Kendo?”  His brownish black orbs looked up into your (e/c) eyes as he heard the excitement in your voice.  You couldn't help but notice a small smile appear on his face.  “That's the type of thing where you fight with wooden swords or katanas or whatever, right?”

He nodded, smiling fully now.  “Hai.”

Your eyes sparkled a bit.  You've always wanted to learn how to fight in the kendo club, but the boys said that girls weren't allowed to participate.  You were furious at them, but didn't do a thing since you wouldn't have time to do kendo in the first place.  Remembering that, you frowned.

His face faltered as he saw the sudden mood change.  “What's wrong?”

You sighed, looking back into the class his brother was teaching.  “I'd love to learn how to do kendo, but...” you looked back at him with a sad smile.  “I wouldn't have the time to participate.”

He frowned.  “But...” you focused on him as he wanted to protest.  You could tell that he was happy about your interest in a sport his country does, but now... “Don't you have time in the afternoon?”

You shook your head, sadly.  “Not unless I change my schedule for college.”  He looked bummed, to say the least.  “Though,” his face filled with hope once you said that word.  You smiled.  For some reason I just don't want to see this man frown or sad.  “I'll see what I can do.”  He smiled, nodding.  “Oh,” you smiled, “by the way, my name is _____ _____.”

He chuckled.  “I'm Honda Kiku, but you can just call me Kiku.”

You hummed.  The name definitely fit him, and you liked it.  “How about 'Kiku-sama'?”  He blushed as you chuckled.  “Well, I need to go Kiku-sama.  See you later?”  He nodded slowly as he bowed.  You chuckled, leaving the dojo as you went home.  You heard him say 'sayonara' before leaving, and felt something flutter inside your chest.

As you headed out the door to your home, Kiku's brother came out of the room he was using.  “Kiku.”  The Japanese man looked at his Chinese brother.  “Did you finally get yourself a student, aru?”

He smiled, looking back at the door that you closed minutes before.  “Hai, I believe I have.”

This is an epic fail at a prologue. I wanted to try a Japan X Reader story where he's a kendo teacher that hasn't had a committed student to his teachings, but it changes when Reader-chan comes in.
Fail...

Sumimasen - Excuse me/I'm sorry
